Synchronicity and Every Day Magic

A short story about synchronicity and every day magic.

Last week I had the privilege of attending the labour and delivery of a beautiful baby girl. Her outstanding mother had a long and challenging labour; she worked so hard and for so long to birth her baby, and in the wee hours of the morning of the 23rd of January, Luna arrived earth-side in her own divine time; a perfect, brand new human.

I got home around 5 am, unwound for a bit then crashed hard for a few hours in bed. I woke up around noon later that day, made myself a cup of coffee and opened the mail sitting on the counter. A package I had ordered from @LaAbeja herbs had arrived, so I opened it up and along with my order flew out a post card with a picture of a moon that said “la luna” and in the top left corner was the number 23. I picked it up and stared at it for a long minute. I had a moment of head scratching and complete confusion; like I knew it was something significant but my brain was so tired it took a moment to connect the dots. In the fog of my exhaustion I walked over to my calendar to check the date, which was the 23rd, and this brand new baby girl was just named Luna. I looked at the postcard again, perplexed, and flipped it over and written on the back it said

May you walk in Love
May you walk in Trust
May you walk in Beauty

It all instantly made sense. A smile so big came across my face and I took a seat, finished my coffee, and just stared at this postcard in a foggy, elated feeling of bliss and gratitude, so excited that I get to deliver this message.

Today I went to do a postpartum visit with the family where I got to tell Mom and Dad how this synchronicity happened and how the postcard came to me. We all agreed it was quite magical and significant and we shared a moment of smiles with one another. Tanya (mom) told me that they gave Luna the middle name “Geri” which was Tanya’s Amma’s name. Amma had passed away while Tanya was about 8 weeks pregnant, and so the cherry-on-top of this synchronistic sundae is the knowing that that blessing was from great-grandmother Geri, just on the other side.

May you walk in Love
May you walk in Trust
May you walk in Beauty

Life is beautiful.
