What is a Nutritional Therapist?
“One man’s food is another man’s poison” -Lucretius
A nutritional therapist works with healthy individuals in order to prevent disease, as well as sick individuals to ease and minimize symptoms of a developed disease. One way of distinguishing dieticians and nutritionists from nutritional therapists is to understand that nutritional therapists often help minimize health symptoms – as opposed to focusing on the cause and treatment of the disease itself (like that of registered dieticians and medical doctors).
Nutritional therapists recognise that every person is unique and therefore has an individual set of dietary requirements. It is my job to establish whether or not an individual’s diet is right for their current state of health. Personalized programs are formulated to ensure that the diet addresses any nutritional deficiencies and contains all of the essential components.
I can help play a role in:
– the improvement of health symptoms
– the optimization of good health
I take into account the unique dietary needs of each individual and formulate a personalized plan to correct nutrient deficiencies and alleviate health symptoms.
